Listen/Sing to:

“We Praise You” by Matt Redman

*Psalm 96:

Oh sing to the Lord a new song;
sing to the Lord, all the earth!
2 Sing to the Lord, bless his name;
tell of his salvation from day to day.
3 Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the peoples!
4 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;
he is to be feared above all gods.
5 For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols,
but the Lord made the heavens.
6 Splendor and majesty are before him;
strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

7 Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!
8 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
bring an offering, and come into his courts!
9 Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness;
tremble before him, all the earth!

10 Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns!
Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved;
he will judge the peoples with equity.”

11 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;
let the sea roar, and all that fills it;
12 let the field exult, and everything in it!
Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy
13 before the Lord, for he comes,
for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness,
and the peoples in his faithfulness.

“Father, there is new mercy and new grace for me as I arise this morning. Which in return means I have new thanksgiving to bring to You and I have a new song to sing to You. By singing and declaring Your name, I am declaring the Gospel. My worship to You is missional. You are indeed great and to be feared. Yet, because of Your Son, I also can draw near, knowing You’ll draw near to me. When my eyes are totally fixed on You, everything else is worthless. Help me to see Your greatness not in just the good times and bad times, but every moment of my being.

Jesus, You deserve all the glory and honor. I’m thankful for the moments when I can gather with my church family to declare glory that is due to You! Help me, Jesus, see that singing isn’t the only way to worship You. Romans 12 tells me to offer my whole body (not just singing) as a living sacrifice. Because You are holy, I am to be holy. Of course, I am still covered in flesh and sin, but Your Gospel provides me all that I need to fight sin and pursue holiness (Ephesians 6:10-18)

Holy Spirit, You reign! You are in charge of all! You shall never be moved! And one day, You will judge this world. Oh that I would be faithful to You and Your cause. Help my song that I sing and declare to You be what I sing and tell to others. I want others to join in on this song and I want others to hear about Your Gospel. You’re coming again. I don’t know when, but You’re coming. Help me to anticipate that day, Holy Spirit. And help me to do what really matters now.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
